Sharing Support Through the Holiday Season

The holiday season is a time to come together and support the people and organizations that help make Thunder Bay a stronger community.

During Christmas 2025, LiUNA Local 607 continued its commitment to local food security by supporting The Grace Place Thunder Bay and the Dew Drop Inn. Both organizations provide meals, welcoming spaces and essential services to people experiencing food insecurity and other challenges throughout the year.

Supporting Christmas at The Grace Place

The Grace Place serves vulnerable residents in Thunder Bay’s south core, providing hot meals, drop-in services, emergency shelter support and a welcoming place for people in need.

Ahead of the Christmas season, Local 607 delivered $5,000 worth of much-needed food supplies for the Grace Place kitchen, along with 25 turkeys for its Christmas dinner.

Local 607 also contributed $2,500 toward new tables and chairs for The Grace Place’s expanded dining room. The new furniture will help the organization welcome more people into a comfortable and dignified space while continuing to expand its community meal service.

Continuing Our Support for the Dew Drop Inn

Local 607 also continued its longstanding partnership with the Dew Drop Inn and its Compassion Kitchen during the Christmas season.

In preparation for its Christmas Day dinner, Local 607 donated 50 turkeys. The donation helped provide the holiday meal while also supplying food that could be used to prepare additional meals in the days that followed. Local 607 also presented the Dew Drop Inn with a $7,000 cheque to sponsor all seven days of meal service during the first week of January 2026.

The Dew Drop Inn serves people in Thunder Bay every day of the year, providing nourishing meals in an environment centred on compassion, dignity and respect.

The holidays can be a particularly difficult time for people experiencing food insecurity, poverty or homelessness. Organizations such as Grace Place and the Dew Drop Inn ensure that community members have access to meals, support and a place where they are welcomed.

LiUNA Local 607 is proud to support their staff and volunteers as they continue serving people across Thunder Bay, during the holiday season and throughout the year.
